George Chapman
George Chapman the play

Born in Hitchin in 1559, George Chapman went on to be one of the most celebrated poets, playwrights and classical translators of his time.

A contemporary of Shakespeare and thought by many to be the un- named ‘Rival Poet’ in The Bard’s sonnets.

George was a colourful figure who knew wealth and poverty and lived and worked during one of the most literary vibrant periods of our times.

This is a humorous play about the man, his ambitions, his character and his works.
